No stranger to wagers, Daniel Ricciardo has a new one locked in for the new season.

The Australian driver will get a special prize from McLaren team principal Zak Brown if he’s able to get a podium in 2021.

As seen on McLaren’s ‘Unboxed’ recap series on YouTube, Brown will let Ricciardo go full throttle with his NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt’s iconic No. 3 Wrangler Chevrolet, part of his personal collection, if he gets a top3 finish their season.

“You can keep that version as a signing-on bonus. But I’m thinking – your first podium, you give the real thing a go,” Brown said in the video.

“That’s awesome. I feel like I’ve got to give you something though. Is this really for me to take? Hell yeah,” Ricciardo replied.

Ricciardo is known to be a fan of Earnhardt. He races with the number 3 on his Formula One car and has shown appreciation for the number made popular by seven-time NASCAR champion since the beginning of his racing career.

Known to deliver

The new bet follows a 2020 wager between the Australian driver and former Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul. If the latter landed a podium, the former would have to get a tattoo.

Ricciardo made good on his bet, finishing third at the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix to get Renault’s first podium since 2011. He then repeated the achievement at the 2020 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Plans for Abiteboul’s tattoo, however, are still not in place. “To be honest I still haven’t managed to get Cyril one. So I’ll have to sort that out first,” Ricciardo told Motorsport recently.
