Aston Martin drivers Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll took the brand-new AMR21 to its track debut on a Silverstone shakedown on Thursday.
The promotional running event happened a day after the team revealed its 2021 car with a special Tom Brady appearance.
Both drivers shared the allocated 100km of running on Pirelli demo tires, marking the first time that four-time world champion Vettel used Mercedes engines in F1. They’ll hit the gas once again at the pre-season tests in Bahrain on Mar. 12 to 14.
The Canadian-owned team finished last year’s constructor’s championship in fourth place under their old ‘Racing Point’ name and has set a top-three finish as the target for 2021.
They rebranded to Aston Martin for this season after owner Lawrence Stroll, Lance’s father, acquired shares in the British luxury car manufacturer. The brand last competed in F1 in 1960.
